Woodbury Common and Colaton Raleigh

A cracking longer walk combining the wide-open landscapes of Woodbury Common with the quieter countryside and villages of East Devon. This varied circular takes us across the heathland and wooded areas of the common before heading into the surrounding countryside, linking Colaton Raleigh and Newton Poppleford along the way. Expect a real mixture of landscapes, from open common and woodland to farmland, country lanes and village paths. At nearly 11 miles, this is a satisfying day out without an excessive amount of climbing. With around 975 ft of ascent, there are hills along the way, but much of the enjoyment comes from the constantly changing scenery and the contrast between the common and the countryside below.
